Rating: Not Clean
- 2 out of 5
Ingredient Score:
Rated at 2/5 green leaves, Country Life Vitamins Stress Shield® falls short in providing a clean and healthy option for those seeking to manage stress through supplementation. The product does not boast organic ingredients and also fails to utilize non-GMO components, detracting significantly from its overall healthfulness.
The Stress Shield® formulation includes Sensoril® Ashwagandha Extract, a well-regarded adaptogen for stress support, and a Botanical Support Blend featuring extracts from Wild Jujube Seed, Eleuthero, and Passion Flower. These are coupled with Vitamin B6 in multiple forms and Ginger Extract, alongside L-Tyrosine, which are known to support various aspects of neurological function. However, the product’s integrity is compromised by the inclusion of non-organic elements and the presence of genetically modified organisms.
Further scrutiny reveals the use of Pyridoxine Hydrochloride and Maltodextrin, which are subtractive to the product’s clean label aspirations. Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, while a form of Vitamin B6, is a synthetic derivative and its inclusion led to a deduction in the product’s score. Maltodextrin, a common filler or sweetener, is recognized for its potential negative health impacts and has resulted in an even greater reduction of the product’s score.
The capsule’s composition includes Cellulose, Magnesium Stearate, Stearic Acid, and Silica – common in supplement manufacturing but not without their controversies, especially regarding clean labeling practices.
Country Life Vitamins Stress Shield® does provide certain botanical and nutritional elements that may support stress management. However, its reliance on non-organic, GMO, and potentially harmful additives eclipses the potential benefits of its herbal components. For a product to be considered cleaner and healthier, a reformulation that eliminates these additives and prioritizes organic, non-GMO ingredients is necessary. This would enhance the product’s standing and make it a more commendable choice for consumers prioritizing health and wellness.
