Almond Extract

What is it:

Almond extract is a concentrated liquid flavoring derived from almonds, commonly used in baking and cooking. To produce it, blanched almonds are ground into a paste and mixed with a food-grade solvent, usually alcohol, to extract the flavor compounds. After softening, the mixture is filtered and distilled. It is commonly used for flavoring in baked goods.

Almond extract is minimally processed flavoring that retains many of the beneficial compounds present in almonds. It is rich in polyunsaturated fats, vitamin E, minerals, and antioxidants.
