What is it:

Chives come from the allium genus, a group of vegetables that are rich in sulfur compounds. Chives are typically a topping for foods such as garlic bread, potatoes, steak, and more, and may be dehydrated and added to processed foods for additional flavoring.

Rating:

Chives have several health benefits that are common within the allium family, such as acting as a prebiotic to promote intestinal health, lowering the risk of prostate cancer, and inducing apoptosis of breast cancer cells. Chives also inhibit NLRP3 inflammation, which contributes to numerous obesity-related diseases.
