Cold-pressed safflower oil is a non-GMO type of vegetable oil made by extracting the oil of the safflower plant and crushing and pressing its seeds. Because this processing method is very low heat, the oil retains many of its nutrients and natural flavor. This type of safflower is used more commonly for cosmetic use, drizzling on foods, or for low-heat cooking.
Cold-pressed unrefined safflower oil is a very minimally processed oil that retains many beneficial nutrients and antioxidants that have been linked to various health benefits when consumed uncooked, including reducing waist circumferences, reducing blood pressure, improving insulin resistance, and improving skin conditions when used topically. Caution should be used with heating this oil, as it is rich in polyunsaturated fats that may oxidize during cooking and form harmful compounds.
