What is it:

Hemp seeds are the small, nutrient-dense seeds of the Cannabis sativa plant that have a nutty flavor. Hemp seeds contain only trace amounts of THC, the psychoactive compound in marijuana, making them safe and legal for consumption. To process hemp seeds for use in foods, they are typically hulled to remove their hard outer shell, resulting in soft, creamy seeds known as hemp hearts. These can be eaten raw, roasted, or ground into a meal. Hemp seeds are often sprinkled on salads, blended into smoothies, incorporated into baked goods, or used to make hemp milk.
