This rapid expansion of the grains results in their characteristic light and airy texture. After puffing, the rice is cooled, dried, and packaged. It is commonly enjoyed as a snack or used in various food products such as rice cakes.
Puffing can change the nutritional quality of brown rice, and can decrease it’s antioxidant content. However, puffed brown rice still contains many beneficial nutrients. There is little research about puffed brown rice. Aim for organic options to reduce pesticide exposure.
