Sea Salt

Sea Salt

Sea Salt

What is it:

Sea salt is a natural mineral that is harvested from evaporated seawater. It is produced by collecting seawater in large shallow ponds or pans, allowing the water to evaporate under the sun and wind. As the water evaporates, it leaves behind salt crystals, which are then collected and processed. The collected salt crystals may undergo minimal processing, such as washing and grinding, to produce different varieties of sea salt with varying textures and flavors. Sea salt is commonly used for seasoning and cooking.

Rating:

Salt is a primary source of sodium, which is essential for human life. However, excess sodium in the diet can cause negative health implications such as high blood pressure, kidney dysfunction, and negative gut modulation. Sea salt contains higher amounts of minerals and slightly lower sodium content than refined salt. According to a study performed on rats, sea salt may be less likely to induce hypertension in comparison to refined salt.
