What is it:
Strawberries are fruits that are grown during the non-winter months, and 90% of the Strawberries grown in the US are from California. While the origin of wild strawberries is not clear, the first garden strawberry was grown in France.
Rating:
Strawberries are high in Vitamin C, Manganese, Folate, and Potassium. Those minerals help with immune health, breaking down carbs/protein, limiting birth defects, and regulating blood pressure. Berries also may help improve heart health. However, it is best to observe when young children eat strawberries for the first time, as allergy is relatively common. Choosing organic strawberries can help you avoid exposure to pesticides.
