What is it:

Turmeric is a bright yellow spice derived from the roots of the Curcuma longa plant, which is native to South Asia. It has a warm, bitter taste and is a key ingredient in many Asian dishes, particularly curry. It is often used to enhance color and increase bioactive compounds in various food products as well as supplements.

Turmeric is rich in a bioactive compound called curcumin, which has potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Turmeric has been studied in the treatment of and protection against many inflammatory diseases.
