Lemongrass is a tropical plant known for its fragrant, lemony aroma and flavor. Native to Asia, it is made of fibrous stalks that are commonly used in Thai, Vietnamese, and Indian cuisines. The plant is processed by first trimming the tough ends and removing the outer layers to reveal the core. This core is then finely chopped, crushed, or pounded to release its essential oils and flavor. It can be used fresh, dried, or as a ground powder in soups, curries, teas, and marinades.
Lemongrass is rich in compounds that provide anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, and antioxidant properties.
